Back to the bench
Don't just write about research, do some yourself. |

EICOS, the European Initiative for Communicators of
Science, will be hosted next year by the Max Planck Institute for
Biophysical Chemistry in Gottingen. It has just sent out the programme
announcement and application form. (Note: the application needs to be sent
back by 15 February.) Further details are available from
www.eicos.mpg.de,
or email to
eicos@gwdg.de.
But, in brief, the programme offers suitably qualified journalists from any
European country the chance to participate in lab research. Financial
support is provided for up to three weeks. The first part of the fellowship
is one week hands on in the lab at Gottingen, followed by an optional
extended lab assignment in Gottingen or elsewhere.
You need to be a professional journalist with at least two years'
experience, normally a reporter or editor, though illustrators and
photographers can apply. And you need reasonable English. |
