The ABSW is delighted to continue its support for student journalism through the Student Publication Association National Awards 2023 #SPANC23

The SPA National Awards are one of the most prestigious set of awards recognising student media, with 24 categories available for entry.  

The ABSW supports two categories:

Best Science Publication or Section - which recognises the best overall coverage of science in a student publication. It is open to specialist science publications, as well as science sections within a broader publication.  In 2022 the winner was Concrete, University of East Anglia

Best Science or Tech Piece - which recognises the best science and technology reporting. This can include reporting on scientific research at institutions, as well as wider issues and topics in the science and technology sector including gaming. It will take into account the story’s relevance to the audience, structure and impact. In 2022 the winner was Cameron McAllister, Palatinate

Nominations for the 2023 awards are open until 11:59pm on Wednesday 1 March and the full shortlists will be announced on Wednesday 8 March, before announcing the results at an awards ceremony during the Student Publication Association National Conference in Glasgow on Saturday 1 April.

The ABSW will attend the awards ceremony to present the prizes in its supported categories.
