Are you ready for a night of games and fun and the opportunity to chat with other ABSW members? You could even use your interviewing skills to win some awesome prizes!
Following our award lecture from 17:00 to 18:00 GMT on Thursday 27 January, we invite you to convene on SpatialChat for a Spyfall tournament, and general chat.
If you haven’t used it before, SpatialChat is much more like being in a room together than Zoom, because you can move around, and people sound quieter the further away from them you are. You can separate into groups having different discussions without needing to be put into breakout rooms. Register below and we will share joining details on the day. All award lecture registrants will automatically get invited.
The Spyfall games will start from 19:00 GMT so that people have a chance to grab some dinner following the award lecture.
Spyfall is a game of bluffing, where we all take the roles of FBI agents and spies, trying to deceive each other over eight minute rounds. We will interview each other, trying to work out who the spy is. We will divide up into groups to play, and the winner will be those from across all groups with the highest score after five rounds. How good are your interviewing skills?
The top two players will take home some great prizes:
First place will win a ‘Taste of Fortnum’s and Mason’s’ hamper worth £75 plus a signed copy of Angela Saini’s book Superior
Second place will win a £30 voucher for Hatchard’s books, plus a signed copy of Angela Saini’s book Superior
Anyone who arrives late or doesn’t want to play can just chat, socialize and cheer on a brighter 2022. We'll try to wrap up in two hours but it will depend on how everyone is feeling.
And if you're wondering what all the fuss about board games is all about, see Sam Illingworth's session from UKCSJ2020 and you'll find out!
