Journalism can do a lot of things. It can probe, it can explore, it can expose. But sometimes, especially in science journalism, the most important thing it can do is explain. A good analysis article puts the news in context. It helps readers not merely gain knowledge, but understand too - and gives them the tools to see the roots of a story, and where it is going. Analysis lies somewhere between a news article and a comment article, and if you get it right it can be more valuable than both. This workshop will explore how to make that happen.

Workshop leader: Tom Whipple, Science Editor, The Times (pictured right)
