This two-day online masterclass is all about the craft of opinion writing for science journalists, scientists, and science communicators.
You will:
- Learn the basics of opinion writing and how it differs from news and features.
- Get advice from commissioning editors and writers of comment articles at high quality publications.
- Write an opinion article and have it critiqued by experts.
- Know how to pitch to editors of newspapers and magazines.
Led by ABSW Board member Ehsan Masood, Nature’s editor for editorials, confirmed contributors also include:
- Sara Abdulla, Senior Editor, The Washington Post and former Chief Opinion Editor, Nature.
- Philip Ball, Award-Winning Science Writer, Broadcaster, Commentator and Contributor to the BBC, Chemistry World, The Guardian, Prospect Magazine.
- John Whitfield, Comment Editor Research Professional News and author of Lost Animals, the story of extinct, endangered and rediscovered species.
