COJO Against COVID was an 18-month project (completed in May 2022) investigating how constructive journalism (COJO) can support Covid-19 pandemic recovery in local and regional areas of the UK.
Constructive journalism – known mainly by its key variant, solutions journalism – is a rigorous evidence-based reporting framework and toolkit that shifts the focus from the problem to the solution in order to inform, inspire and empower people in the face of social issues and challenges.
In this project, journalists and journalism scholars joined forces to organise a UK-wide COJO Against COVID campaign across the UK and, through that, to investigate how COJO can support pandemic-wounded local/regional communities in their transition to the “new normal”.
The ABSW was a partner in the project, and co-ordinated the work of a team of mentors working with regional journalists.
