After the early bird prices end, participants can still register for the conference ‘A changing profession in a challenging world’ which takes place on 15 October 2024, at The Francis Crick Institute, London, and online. Note ticket prices are the same whether attending in person or online.

The programme and schedule for the UKCSJ24 are still being constructed, but you can check the sessions and speakers already confirmed. From artificial intelligence fears and tools to effective strategies to increase diversity among journalists, sources and stories, the conference hopes to address its headline’ ‘A changing profession in a challenging world’. The future of science journalism, the reconstruction of the science media industry, writing articles and books, pitching, and meeting the editors, will also be in the programme.

Diversity Scholarships available

Applications are also now open for Diversity Scholarships to attend the event in person. These will cover all costs associated with attending the UKCSJ24 in London (registration fee, travel and any necessary accommodation).

The scholarships are available to British citizens or those who have the right to work/study in the UK and are currently doing so, providing that they meet one of the listed diversity criteria.

The deadline for applications is noon on 31 July 2024. Applicants will be informed of the results on 9 August 2024. Applicants who were not successful will then have the opportunity to register for the UKCSJ24 at early bird rates.

The UKCSJ24 is only possible thanks to its sponsors and partners: EurekAlert!, the ABSW's Lead Professional Development Partner, and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Gold Partner, Excellence in Science & Technology Journalism.
